Saffron

Saffron is the red stigma of the Crocus Flower.  Once the stigma is dried, it becomes the enticing seasoning, Saffron. It takes 150,000 Crocus flowers to produce 1 kilogram of saffron so it's no wonder why Saffron is one of the most expensive seasonings you can buy. However, it doesn't take much.  Just 4-6 threads per serving is enough to provide a yellow color and hint of flavor.

The La Mancha region of Spain is famous for its high quality saffron that is used to give flavor, aroma, and color to many wonderful traditional dishes, including the increasingly popular Paella!

Always use whole threads of Saffron for optimum flavor.
